Objectives & Topics

PROFILES’20 will gather novel works from the fields of semantic query interpretation, entity-centric and event-centric Web data search, dataset selection and discovery, as well as automated profiling of datasets using scalable data assessment and profiling techniques. PROFILES’20 will equally consider both novel scientific methods and techniques for querying, assessment, profiling, and discovery of distributed datasets, as well as the application perspective, such as the innovative use of tools and methods for providing structured knowledge about datasets, their evolution, and fundamentally, the means to search and query Web Data. We will seek application-oriented, as well as more theoretical papers and position papers.

The topics of interest of PROFILES’20 include:

  • Dataset profile representation (vocabularies, schemas)
  • Profiling and assessment of novel forms of entity-centric web data
  • Data summarisation
  • Data quality analysis for search
  • Topic profiling of datasets
  • Dataset indexing and profiling approaches
  • Novel applications using dataset profiles
  • Dataset retrieval
  • Search results presentation for datasets
  • Semantic dataset search
  • Evaluation of dataset search tools and algorithms
  • Decentralised and distributed architectures and algorithms in data search
  • Fusing, cleaning, ranking and refining dataset search results
  • Approaches to personalisation in dataset search
  • Scalability and performance of distributed data queries
  • Usage of dataset profiles in search

In the PROFILES’20 edition, we are also interested in the application of dataset profiles in the areas of

  • Machine Learning
  • Multilingual datasets
  • Historical and contemporary events
